Established in 1991, Khemara was the very first local Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Cambodia. Since its inception, Khemara has played a significant role in working for the advancement of women and children in Cambodia by working directly with communities.
Khemara’s mission is to promote the capacity, self-confidence and wellbeing of the community through the sharing of information, education and counseling.
Project Coordinator Full- time (40hrs/week), Based in Phnom Penh with regular travel to Kampong Cham, Prey Veng and Svay Rieng
In partnership with Every Child UK and Legal Aid Cambodia, Khemara will commence a 3 year project aimed to ensure that children in three provinces of south-eastern Cambodia are able to exercise their civil and political rights in the Cambodian justice systems and in their communities. By strengthening systems and increasing the knowledge and skills of duty bearers at the national, provincial, district and commune level, the project will ensure children are aware of their rights, receive preventative support when vulnerable and receive appropriate protection, legal advice and support when they are in the justice system, whether they are in conflict with the law or are victims of crime/abuse.
The project is due to start on 1st July 2013 and will run until 30th June 2016, and is being funded by the Big Lottery Fund, and EveryChild (a UK-based INGO).
This post will be legally employed by Khemara, but will be seconded to and line managed by EveryChild, as a member of their Programmes Team.
EveryChild was established in 2001, and is an international development charity working to stop children growing up vulnerable and alone.
Job purpose
To coordinate the project to ensure that 1,010 children are able to exercise their civil and political rights within the Cambodian justice system and in their communities, in Prey Veng, Svey Rieng and Kampong Cham Provinces. To:
- coordinate the project activities in accordance with the agreed project proposal, donor requirements and the Grant Agreements with EveryChild
- To coordinate project monitoring, reporting, evaluation and communications activities
- To provide support to both partners to fulfil the requirements of the project
- To provide quality assurance
- To ensure that child protection systems are in place
