The National Biodigester Programme (NBP) established under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has the aim to establish a self-sustaining, market driven national domestic biogas sector. The programme is currently implementing in 13 provinces consisting Kampong Cham, Kandal, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, Kampot, Kep, Sihanoukville, Prey Veng, Siem Reap, Pursat, and Kampong Thom.
Through a Local Capacity Builder on entrepreneurship development to selected BCCs, the LCB provides them with extensive training, helps them with the registration of a BCC and provides company specific coaching services for a period of 2 years. By now 58 companies have been established and are in operation in 11 provinces and the programme aims at coming to a full privatisation of the supply side by 2015.
