GEcsn is a network that brings together local NGOs with the aim of improving the lives of vulnerable Cambodian children, their families, and their communities. Our core business is transferring knowledge and know-how and makes financial contributions and link local NGOs with Western donors. GEcsn collaborates with Damnok Toek (DT), an NGO working in Cambodia since 1997 with the aim of supporting vulnerable children such as street children, children with disabilities, and trafficked children. The final objective of Damnok Toek is to reintegrate children in their families or their community after giving them the means to build their own independent life.
Damnok Toek is currently running some small activities which could potentially generate income: the home-based project which enables vulnerable families to generate income through selling products they make in a shop in Siem Reap; water purification and selling water in Poipet; and a vocational training programme for youth and young adults in Neak Loeung. Keeping in mind that some NGOs manage to generate up to 40% of their income through
business activities, DT aims to build up a business sector, with the objective of reducing funding from external donors. DT is in particular interested in setting up a social enterprise program, and with this objective seeks to hire a qualified consultant to explore potential for business initiatives to generate income for Damnok Toek’s programs.
