Oxfam Australia (OAU) in the Mekong region1 has a portfolio of development and humanitarian programmes implemented through and with other Oxfam affiliates, local partners, local government authorities and networks. For the next two years we will continue to have programmes implemented directly by our own staff in Lao PDR and, with other Oxfam affiliates, we will retain humanitarian response capacity. We work in many of the more remote areas of the region, integrating long term development, humanitarian response and advocacy and lobbying interventions in order to deliver the greatest impact for the poor.
We are in year 3 of a 5 year transition plan in the Mekong region and our programme is increasingly aligned to the changes that are resulting from the Oxfam single management structure (SMS) in each country and the region. As our country work is handed over to other Oxfam affiliates, we are further developing our regional work which is focused on our lead on water governance and the impact large infrastructure projects are having on the livelihoods of the poorest, gender and supporting the global GROW campaign. Programs are funded with a mix of institutional, major donors and unrestricted funds.
This is an exciting time to actively contribute to shaping the regional programme. The post will be based with the small regional team housed in the Oxfam Cambodian Country Office and will work closely with technical support in our Head Office.
