AFOD, one of the UK’s leading international aid agencies, is currently looking for a Programme Officer (Myanmar) to be part of their SE Asia team. This post will be based in Yangon although the successful candidate will spend up to a month in the regional office in Phnom Penh as part of a thorough induction process. Over the longer term the post will require regular travel to Phnom Penh to work with the wider team. This is an exciting time to join the SE Asia team as we begin implementation of our new 5 year regional strategy. We are currently recruiting several new roles to help fulfil this strategy so the successful candidate will be joining a newly formed team and will play an important part in determining overall success.
Job Profile
The PO for Myanmar will work closely with the the Programme Manager (PM) in developing and implementing CAFOD’s strategy and programme in line with the SEA vision and strategy
Your role
One of the main responsibilities of the PO will be to support the development of and implement the Myanmar Country Strategy. The PO will work closely with partner organisations in Myanmar and as well as internal collaboration the PO will develop external partnerships to help achieve regional goals by, for example, developing relationships with relevant organisations and networks. Programme appraisal, monitoring and review is also key to this role and the PO will be expected to capture learning from this work and feed this back to the wider regional programme work and organisation. This will extend to working on Project Cycle Management for projects and partnerships.
Your profile
We are looking for candidates with demonstrated knowledge of Myanmar and experience of programme management in two or more of following areas: Governance; Civil Society Development programming and It is important that candidates have previsouly used Programme Cycle Management tools to develop, monitor and evaluate programme frameworks. An ability to develop and maintain relationships internally and externally will be fundamental to the success of this role so we will be looking for candidates to demonstrate past successes in establishing relationships with key stakeholders. CAFOD is dedicated to partnership so experience of working through partners is a distinct advantage as is an awareness of trends and changing approaches to development and humanitarian work in the region.
