A future mechanism on REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) provides an opportunity for Cambodia to be rewarded for its efforts to protect and sustainably use its forests.
One of the initiatives helping Cambodia to prepare for implementation of REDD+ is the UN-REDD Programme. The governing body of the UN-REDD Programme is the Programme Executive Board. A workshop was held in late September 2012 with key representatives from civil society and indigenous people’s networks and organizations to select interim IPs and CSO representatives with a mandate of six months to represent their stakeholder groups on the Programme Executive Board.
Therefore, with this announcement we would like to call for interested CSOs in Cambodia to apply to the position as full PEB member to Cambodia REDD+ National Programme.
